One of our Director’s, Alexia is setting herself a challenge this year, specifically the South Coast Challenge. This means she’s walking 54 km, in one day, along the South Coast from Eastbourne to Brighton. Now, we all like a walk in the park in the sunshine, but this seems a bit extreme so we caught up with her to find out more…
Tell us more about what you’re doing
I’m walking 33.5 miles in a day alongside my childhood friend Laura. We think it’ll be about 10 hours walking, so with a few food, drink and blister stops, a 12 hour day. I’m hoping the scenery will be beautiful, which has to help, and its August bank holiday weekend so fingers crossed for a dry day - I’ve cursed it now!
Sounds like you’ll need to do a bit of training?
Yes, we’ve got a 16 week training plan in place, which will build up our endurance and fitness etc. I’m off to Snowdon in May so hoping the hills will give me the kick start I need.
This all begs the question as to why?
I’ll be walking with Laura, in memory of her daughter Rose and raising money for SANDS – the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity. They’re a National Charity who do the most amazing work in supporting families across the UK. To read more about our story check out our just giving page here… https://goo.gl/vVmMf7
What are you doing to fundraise?
Alongside the Just Giving Page I’ve got a Easter Raffle set up at the office, which is proving to be winner, of course the prize is Chocolate! We are running a raffle and planning a Great British Bake Off style Cake Sale in the Summer. I’ll keep you updated with progress. If anyone can help in supporting us or with a raffle prize then do get in touch
We think this is great. Good luck to Alexia and Laura with their training and in all their fundraising activities – we’ll be cheering you over the finish line! If you can help support this worthy cause then do get in touch with us on hello@curteiswebb.co.uk or call on 01892 263 359
